Terms of Use
Last updated: October 12, 2026
These terms apply to this website, including the free online receipt generator, and to the Receipt Maker app for iPhone and iPad (the "App"). By using the website or the App you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use them.
Operator: Ellis Claire. Full details are in the imprint.
1. What the website and the App do
The website lets you fill in a receipt in your browser and download it as a PDF, one receipt at a time. The App lets you create, manage, export, print and share receipts and related PDF documents on your iPhone or iPad. Some App features are available only with a paid subscription or a one-time purchase.
Both are document tools. You decide what goes on a receipt, and you are responsible for checking that every receipt is accurate and suitable for its purpose, and for keeping it as long as your local rules require.
2. Only real payments — no false or forged documents
Use the website and the App only to record payments that actually took place, with the real amount, the real people and the real date.
You must not use them to create false, forged or misleading documents. This includes receipts for payments that never happened, receipts with a changed amount, date or payer, and documents that imitate the receipts of a shop, restaurant, company or public authority. Using a document like this to deceive someone may be a criminal offence.
3. A receipt is not a tax invoice
A receipt confirms that money was received. It is not a tax invoice and cannot replace one. Businesses that must issue invoices under tax law should use invoicing or accounting software that meets the rules of their country.
4. No legal or tax advice
Nothing on this website or in the App is legal, tax, accounting or financial advice. Our pages describe what a receipt usually contains; they do not promise that a receipt will be accepted by a landlord, an employer, an authority, a court or anyone else. If you are unsure, ask a qualified professional.
5. The online generator
The generator is free. Every PDF it creates carries a small watermark with the name of this website, which cannot be removed. Your entries stay in your browser and are not sent to us (see the privacy policy). Because we never receive them, we cannot recover a receipt for you.
6. The App
Licence and permitted use
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App on devices you own or control, subject to these terms and to the rules of the App Store. You may not reverse engineer the App except where the law expressly allows it, interfere with its security or operation, or use it in a way that infringes the rights of others.
Your content
You keep your rights in the information, images, signatures and documents you enter, import or create. Most of it is stored only on your device, so please keep suitable backups. Restoring a backup replaces the current App data, and deleting data may be irreversible.
Free and paid features
The free version has limits, such as a monthly number of receipts and a watermark. Paid access removes those limits and unlocks the features described on the purchase screen. The features and prices shown by the App Store at the time of purchase apply.
Subscriptions
Where offered, monthly and yearly plans are auto-renewable subscriptions:
- payment is charged to your Apple account when you confirm the purchase;
- the subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it in your Apple account settings before the renewal deadline set by Apple;
- renewal prices and periods are shown by the App Store and may differ by country, currency and tax;
- if a free trial is offered, any unused part of it may be forfeited when you buy a subscription, as permitted by the store;
- deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.
How to cancel or restore a purchase is explained on the support page. Cancelling stops future renewals; it normally does not refund the current period.
Lifetime purchase
Where offered, "Lifetime" is a one-time purchase that unlocks the specified features for as long as the App remains available and supported on the platform where you bought it. It is tied to the Apple account used for the purchase.
Billing and refunds
Apple processes billing and refund requests under its own rules. We never receive your full payment-card details and cannot issue refunds for App Store transactions ourselves. The App uses the App Store and RevenueCat to verify and restore purchases; restoring usually requires the same Apple account as the original purchase.
Apple's terms
If you downloaded the App from the App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies to anything these terms do not cover, and Apple may enforce the relevant provisions as a third-party beneficiary. Nothing in these terms overrides mandatory App Store rules or your consumer rights.
7. Availability
We try to keep the website and the App reliable, but we cannot promise that they will always be available or free of errors. Features that depend on the App Store, RevenueCat, Google, your operating system, internet access, printers or other apps can change or stop working because of those providers.
8. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the website and the App are provided "as is" and "as available", without implied warranties such as merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, lost or corrupted data, rejected or inaccurate receipts, tax or legal consequences, or the acts of third-party services. Our total liability relating to the App is limited to the amount you paid for it in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim.
These limits do not apply where the law does not allow them, including liability that cannot be limited under mandatory consumer law.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when the website, the App, our service providers or the law change. We will change the date at the top of this page and give additional notice where required.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the place where the developer has its principal place of business, without taking away any mandatory protection you have in your country of residence. Before starting a legal claim, please contact us so we can try to solve the problem together.
